Nye's Polonaise opened in Minneapolis in 1950 and was closed and tore down in 2016.  It was revised or rebuilt soon after but isn't what it used to be.  Nye's was known for its retro atmosphere, its Polish food, its sing-along piano bar, and as home of the World's Most Dangerous Polka Band.

Nye's was one of my hangouts in the late 1990s and 2000s where we watched bands practice, chatted with Corky the bartender, and watched it change from a quiet bar to the Best Bar in America (Esquire Magazine, 2006).

The LEGO model was the first one "of note" for me in 2017 thanks to a semi-viral posting on Facebook. I was interviewed by the news and the subject of an article in the Star Tribunes Variety section. This 15 minutes of fame led to the building more LEGO models, but none like the first, Nyes Polonaise.
